Brian Pettiford, M.D. graduated Cum Laude with his B.S. in biology from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA and continued on to the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he received his M.D. in 1996. Dr. Pettiford also stayed at the University of Pittsburgh for an internship and a residency in the Department of General Surgery, ending in 2001. From there, he became Clinical Instructor in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery until late 2003.
Dr. Pettiford received numerous honors throughout his tenures that include Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the Pittsburgh Surgical Society Medical Student Award, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Student Summer Research Award. He has also been active in many community service activities that include being a Schuuman Juvenile Detention Center medical student volunteer and a Medical Explorer’s Program Volunteer.
